Samarkand International University of Technology's Chinese Institute of Electric Power (CIEP) Holds 2025 Spring Festival Cultural Event

    In December 2024, the Chinese Spring Festival was officially inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List. At 2 p.m. (Tashkent time) on January 25, 2025, the Chinese Institute of Electric Power (CIEP) held a Spring Festival cultural celebration themed "Celebrating the Spring Festival Together and Sharing the Culture" in the exhibition hall on the third floor of Samarkand International University of Technology. Abdullaev, the President of Samarkand International University of Technology, Bobby Hall, the Dean of Academic Affairs, Zou Tongqian, the Vice President of the "Silk Road" World Tourism and Cultural Heritage University, Xiang Wei, the Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at Samarkand State Institute of Foreign Languages, and leaders of some Chinese enterprises in Samarkand were invited to this event. It received strong support from the Chinese Embassy in Uzbekistan.

    The event commenced in a solemn atmosphere as students from the CIEP sang the national anthems of Uzbekistan and China. Entrusted by the cultural affairs staff of the Chinese Embassy and on behalf of the CIEP, Acting Dean Wang Xiaohui presented a snake doll mascot and a customized panda ornament with the CIEP logo to President Abdullaev of Samarkand International University of Technology. President Cai Guowei delivered a video speech, affirming the achievements of the cooperation between the two universities and the development and progress of the CIEP. President Abdullaev expressed gratitude to Northeast Electric Power University and the teachers dispatched by it to the CIEP. He also inspired the CIEP students present to study Chinese diligently, build a solid professional foundation, and contribute to China - Uzbekistan friendship and the energy and power industry of the two countries. Acting Dean Wang Xiaohui of the CIEP reviewed the teaching and research achievements of the CIEP over the past year, and Vice Dean Li Xingcan commended 14 students who excelled in Chinese language learning on behalf of the CIEP. CIEP students performed Taiji sword, Taiji fan, a recitation of "The Prosperous Chinese New Year" with musical accompaniment, the Sichuan Opera face - changing show, and sang the song "We're Different". Students from the "Silk Road" World Tourism and Cultural Heritage University and the relatives of the CIEP faculty members who came to Uzbekistan for a visit also brought wonderful Chinese classical and modern dance performances to the event. Amid a harmonious and enthusiastic atmosphere, a New Year's greeting video featuring the dean and faculty representatives of the School of Energy and Power Engineering was shown, showcasing the new development outlook of the university.

    Around 200 people participated in this event and had a close - up experience of the charm of Chinese Spring Festival culture. After the event, many local Uzbek teachers remarked, "We've never heard Uzbek students sing the Chinese national anthem before." Chinese international students from other schools at the scene also said, "I can't believe the CIEP students can sing the Chinese national anthem so well!" President Abdullaev was deeply impressed and said, "Compared to Uzbekistan, it seems that the CIEP students know more about China."
