Invited by Samarkand International University of Technology in Uzbekistan and the University of Strathclyde in the United Kingdom, Zhang Jinghui, the Secretary of the Party Committee of Northeast Electric Power University, along with four members of the university, visited the partner universities in both countries from May 12 to May 19, 2024.
During their visit to Samarkand International University of Technology, Zhang Jinghui and his delegation met with President Abdullayev. The two sides held discussions on further developing the partnership between Northeast Electric Power University and Samarkand International University of Technology. They visited the students enrolled in the China institute of Electric Power at Samarkand International University of Technology. At the meeting, Zhang Jinghui and Abdullayev discussed expanding the enrollment specializations and scale of the 2+2 undergraduate cooperation program. They reached a consensus to introduce electrical engineering and automation majors at the China institute of Electric Power this year. Additionally, the two universities signed a cooperation agreement on loong boat sports.

During the visit to the University of Strathclyde in the UK, Zhang Jinghui and his delegation met with President Jim MacDonald, held working talks with Vice President Stephen Douglas, and visited the students studying at Northeast Electric Power University. The two universities agreed to continue the undergraduate education program in electrical engineering and automation, and they discussed in depth the cooperation model, training plan, curriculum setup, course introductions, and the appointment of professors from China for the electrical engineering master's program. Additionally, they reached a consensus on the exchange program for electrical engineering master's students.
The delegation was accompanied by relevant staff members from the International Cooperation Department, the School of Electrical Engineering, and the School of Energy and Power Engineering.
